Autumn has arrived and one of the most exciting things about a new season is…a beauty refresh!

This season, the runways have shown us it’s all about pushing the boundaries with makeup and there’s plenty of exciting trends for you to experiment with. We’ve gathered five of our favourites so you can get inspired and try something a little different.

Blackberry PoutsBlackberry Pouts

It’s time to make a statement with lipstick and embrace vampy tones. Bold, blackberry shades are the perfect addition to the makeup bags of those daring to go darker, like this gorgeously seductive Bête Noire Lipstick in Possessed Intense (£28).

Charcoal EyesCharcoal Eyes

If a dramatic lip shade isn’t for you, then how about a heavy, charcoal eye? This Kohl Power Eye Pencil from MAC (£14) is great when creating an edgy ‘next day’ look. Apply a thick layer to your waterline and use a brush to gently soften it up by smudging the outer edges of the eyes.

subtle higlightsSubtle Highlights

Contouring is over (thank goodness) and natural-looking, radiant skin is back. To achieve the perfect dewy glow, use a fluffy brush to apply a highlighter to the top of your cheek bones and cupid’s bow. Try using Bobbi Brown’s Highlighting Powder in Pink Glow (£34) over a light-weight foundation.

peachy lidsPeachy Lids

Peach-washed eyelids will make any eye colour pop this Autumn and it’s a trend that’s so easy to achieve. Apply this Tom Ford and Powder Eye Colour Cream (available at John Lewis) in Golden Peach (£43), and pair with a nude lipstick for an effortlessly elegant daytime look.

dramatic lashesDramatic Lashes

Think ‘Twiggy’ and you’re on track with this one - spikey lashes are the way to create a flutter this Autumn. Separate your top lashes with layers of Lancôme’s Hypnose Custom-Wear Volume Mascara (£23.50) with a pale eyeshadow to highlight the lids.
